Awareness of your breath

Awareness of your breath

How many times have you heard it say “take a deep breath”, “just breathe”. How many times have you done it and then forgotten about it 3 minutes later? That’s me every day with so many things! But what I am realising is “what you feed grows” which is probably better said as “what you attend to, you become more aware of”.

I am not here to teach you to box breathe, Wim Hof or fill your diaphragm. If you haven’t learnt this yet, please do (u- tube it or better yet, join a choir! It’s the best way to learn breathing within a fun and fulfilling context).

I am here to challenge you to become more self-aware of the simplest yet one of the most effective de-stressing strategies known to man. It’s universal and known in all countries, tribes and tongues. Literally a person cannot vocalise without breath support. Or live for that matter. It’s free and when done properly, can profoundly impact all areas of your soul (mind, will and emotions). So what’s your excuse? Mine is that I am too distracted by meaningless things and sometimes think ‘this breathing thing is too good to be true’.

If you are like me, you know deep down that the simple things in life are often the most effective. They aren’t too good to be true, they are just true!

I highly recommended reading the book Breath by James Nestor or chapter 5 in The Next Conversation by Jefferson Fisher.
